Silek Lanyah Kubu Gadang is a unique traditional Minangkabau martial art performed on muddy terrain, usually in rice fields after harvest. The Silek Lanyah movement is derived from the Minangkabau silat movement. Silek Lanyah uses the silek tuo gunuang movement which is taken from the stories of the elders in Kubu Gadang, who say that one of the levels of someone who is good at silat is when they are good at silat in mud. Silek Lanyah is performed by three generations, namely children, teenagers and adults and are the original people of Kubu Gadang.
